About Raindrop Remedies
Meet the Creator and Owner of Raindrop Remedies
![]() |
Hello and Welcome!I am Jenniffer Rothschild, creator and owner of Raindrop Remedies. Being a bit of a wall flower and not comfortable in a spotlight, I haven't put my page up here. But people do enjoy knowing where things come from, and the why's and how's about products that they use, so I will put myself "out there" to let you know a little about me. :) |
I graduated college (University of Pittsburgh) with a Bachelors of Science, majoring in Biology and minoring in Geology. My plan at the time was to go to grad school and become a marine biologist. But I started having doubts about this, so I went to work in a laboratory until I made up my mind about my career choice.
My first lab tech job was at an environmental testing lab. I worked in metals testing then Research and Development. I did this for three years, and learned a lot about different wet lab and dewatering testing procedures, and various apparati.
Then switched to a completely different lab at a cancer research institute, Roswell Park. I worked there for five years in Gene Expression research until my lab closed. In this lab, I learned about extraction and testing procedures, various types of cancers, and more. Even got my name in quite a few peer-reviewed published papers.
Coupled with working in restaurants for over decade, I earned quite a bit of experience on proper procedures and safety measures for handling food, reagents, samples that need protection from me, and samples that I needed to protect myself from. Tools in the tool box.
My experience with herbs up to this time was in the form of a tea bag in my mug, the garden, or in the kitchen cooking. I started catching the Herbalism Bug when I was fighting off a cold, but had to be at work to cover other people that were off sick. I never have been able to take the standard "cold medicine" or pain killers or allergy medicine: they all made me very lethargic and icky-feeling. I started looking for better options.
I believe there is a bit too much reliance on chemicals, preservatives, and fragrances in today's food and 'healthy' products. It was time to take a step back to Nature and the goodness that it provides.
Once I started researching herbs, and using them more regularly, it really woke up something inside me. I was hooked. So I started gathering more herbs and making products. Of course experimenting on my family. :)
Raindrop Remedies was created in 2015 in Kenmore, NY with a simple goal: create products to sooth, comfort and nourish everyone. My first sale was for First Aid Salve: a coworker was using it to safely and effectively treat a rash on her dog (he thought it was delicious also!).
My first show was at a book fair in Buffalo, and then I started vending at the Kenmore Farmer's Market. I expanded my product line based on customer requests and feedback. Creating small-batch, handmade herbal teas (tisanes), salves, tinctures, tonics, soaps, moisturizers, and more. Everything is created with intention, has simple ingredients, sustainable packaging, and we do not use at-risk plants. Raindrop Remedies believes that health and quality of life is vital, so we need to take care of our mind, body and spirit.
In addition to creating products, I try to educate people in herbalism as well. I have taught a few classes at Massachusetts Avenue Project in Buffalo. Herbalism is The People's Medicine, and can help all of us! I have been studying herbalism for over ten years, and there is still so much to learn - it never stops!
Someday soon, I plan to open a store. My plan is to offer Raindrop Remedies products, plus other local herbal products: so much good stuff out there and I can't make everything! I also plan to have herbal medicine-making supplies, bulk herbs, and a place to teach and learn. It will be fun!
So that is me in a nutshell. If you ever have a question or concern about Raindrop Remedies, or want to work with us, please contact me at jenniffer@RaindropRemedies.com . I would be delighted to connect with you.
